The Business Spotlight is a monthly video series highlighting Tigard businesses and the people behind them. By participating, businesses help uplift local entrepreneurship, celebrate diversity, and connect residents with the businesses that make Tigard a great place to live, work, and visit.

What is the Business Spotlight Program?
The Business Spotlight Program is a monthly video series that features Tigard businesses and the people behind them. The program highlights the unique combination of businesses and industries that make up the nearly 3,400 businesses that call Tigard home. Here we celebrate the things that make Tigard businesses thrive: entrepreneurship, innovation, diversity, history, and community impact.
Who can be nominated?
Any business physically located in Tigard or headquartered in Tigard may be nominated. Businesses may nominate themselves or be nominated by a community member.
Is there a cost to participate?
No. Participation in the Business Spotlight Program is free. There is also no compensation available for participation. Selected businesses will have the ability to post the video, without edits or alterations, in their own marketing materials and on digital media platforms.
How are businesses selected?
Businesses are selected through a review process that considers:
- Story and authenticity
- Connection to Tigard
- Geographical location within Tigard
- Alignment with program goals
- Diversity of industries and experiences
Due to limited monthly availability, not all nominated businesses can be featured.
What if my business isn’t selected?
Not being selected does not reflect the quality or value of your business. Many strong nominations are received. We strive to highlight a variety of businesses throughout the year and avoid over-highlighting any type of similar or competing business too close together. In some cases, a business may be considered for a future spotlight. Nominations will stay on file for one year after they are received.
Do I need to be experienced on camera?
Selected businesses will participate in a short, guided video interview. No prior media experience is required.
How will the videos be used?
Videos may be shared on City of Tigard platforms, including social media, newsletters, websites, and presentations, to promote local businesses. We also ask selected businesses, and those who nominated them, to share the videos on their own digital platforms to ensure the widest possible dissemination.
How often can a business be featured?
Typically, businesses are featured once to allow for a wide range of stories to be highlighted.
Who is eligible?
At this time, we are only able to highlight businesses that meet the following criteria:
- Business is physically located within Tigard city limits
- No home-based or mobile-only businesses
- Business is not in the alcohol, tobacco, firearms, or cannabis industries
- Business must hold a valid City of Tigard business license
- Business must be registered with the Oregon Secretary of State and authorized to conduct business in Oregon
- Business must be current and in good standing with any industry registrations or requirements, such as Washington County Health Department requirements
