Public Parking Program
Downtown and Tigard Triangle Parking Program
Downtown Tigard and the Tigard Triangle are places where people want to be! As we continue to grow with new businesses and development in these areas, there is a higher customer demand for on-street parking.
Parking Update
In 2025, the City of Tigard studied parking in the downtown area and Tigard Triangle. They checked parking every hour, roughly five days a week, to see how many spaces were available and how full they were.
The study found that parking wasn’t crowded enough to need stricter rules, and most people were following the time limits.
Even so, the city understands that local businesses and community members still have concerns. Because of this, they plan to take steps to improve how often parking spaces turn over and to create designated parking areas for downtown employees. Specifically:
- The city made maps showing locations of on-street parking in downtown and in the Tigard Triangle to help residents and businesses find parking options that are within walking distance of businesses.
- To assist with higher turnover of parking in support of Tigard businesses, the city is extending the time that limits are in effect in the 2 Hour (red) zones. These limits will now apply on Saturdays and will be extended until 7 p.m.
New parking signs will be installed over the next few weeks. The signs have already been ordered, and the city will share more details once the installation schedule is determined.

The City of Tigard has partnered with TriMet to provide 28 parking spaces located at the Downtown Tigard Transit Center for downtown employee permit parking. The city is waiting for an update from TriMet as they finish installing signs for these spaces. Once the signs are in place, the city will update the website and notify downtown businesses by email and flyers. To use these spaces, employees will need to apply online through the city’s webform and provide their information along with proof that they work in Downtown Tigard.
Up to 75 parking permits will be available at a time, and they will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Downtown employees will need to reapply for a permit each year at the end of the calendar year.

How do I report Traffic and Abandoned Vehicle Concerns?
Notice a safe streets-related issue? Please let us know. When you report a concern, it will be assigned to a Tigard Police Officer or a Traffic Engineer, depending on the nature of the issue. Each incident will be addressed as soon as workloads allow.
